Pedulla Excavating and Paving, Inc. is a family owned and operated construction company that started in Seneca Falls, New York in the fall of 1980 with the purchase of a dump truck. Owner Mickey Pedulla always dreamed of being a contractor, he and wife Terri had just welcomed their first son into the family and decided this was the perfect time to start their own business.

While the business was still young and growing Mickey held a full time job at Gould's Pumps Inc. Mickey worked second shift in the foundry while running his construction business during the day in order to provide for his family. Terri was a stay at mother and ran the books from a small office at home. In June of 1984 Mickey quit his job at the foundry; he and wife Terri welcomed their second baby boy into the family.

Early on Pedulla Excavating and Paving, Inc. employed 8-10 seasonal employees and did small residential work such as: basement excavation, water/sewer lines, septic systems, foundation excavation, lawn rehabilitation and snow plowing. In 1986 paving was added to the company's resume. Mickey and Terri also welcomed their third son into the family that year and a daughter in 1988.

Mickey and Terri's fifth child (boy) was born into the family in the mid 1990's, and with a declining economy Mickey and Terri had to make a decision to find a place where they could work year round. After speaking with other contractors and hearing about North Carolina's growing economy, Mickey and Terri decided to visit the Charlotte area of North Carolina in May of 1997.

By August of 1997 Mickey had moved his equipment and relocated to Mooresville & Charlotte, NC. Terri stayed behind with the children to finish work that was in progress and sell equipment that would not be needed in the south. Two employees came with Mickey to help get the business started in Mooresville & Charlotte, NC. After Christmas of 1997, Terri and the kids made the move to North Carolina and closed up shop in New York.

The business began to grow quickly and the company also began to do commercial work. In 2002, the oldest son Dominick graduated from college with a civil engineering degree and joined the family business. In order to keep up with the high demand of work, Pedulla Excavating and Paving, Inc. had to bring on more employees. What started off as an 8-10 employee seasonal business now consisted of 100-120 employees with up to 15 different crews working year round.

The second son, Stephen decided he wanted to be a mechanic so he attended diesel mechanic school and joined the company in 2006 and now manages our fleet of trucks and equipment. The third son, Jimmy graduated high school and joined the business and is responsible for the day to day grading operations. Our daughter, Christina, went to college to study elementary education. She taught in the public education system for four years but in 2015 she decided to come to work for the family business. The fifth child, Joe graduated high school in 2012 and is currently in college studying equipment operations and will soon follow his father and brother steps assisting with field operations.
